My husband and I had been having a discussion about weight loss. This spurred my youngest to ask the question, "Where does all that fat go when you lose it?"
I gave her an answer off the top of my head. I said "Well it comes out when we go potty and it comes out of our pores when we sweat. After a while, I started thinking about that answer. “I forgot about breathing”, I thought as a mentally slapped my palm against my forehead. Geez, you’d never know I studied microbiology in graduate school!
Normally I contemplate these things on my long walks in the morning (sort of meditative power walking) and then forget about them, but her question stuck with me. I decided to look up some answers on the internet. I found some well thought out answers and a whole lot of controversy. It seems that many adults are confused about how their body functions.
